Example of an onsite, installed exhibition
Without denying all the wonderful potential offered by the digital world, sometimes history speaks best through traditional, physical spaces. That was particularly true with the exhibition of the oil on canvas paintings of Caroline Morgan Clowes. I was the co-curator, co-author, and designer of the physical installation of the Dutchess County Historical Society’s most significant exhibition telling the story of the lost legacy and work of LaGrange artist Caroline Morgan Clowes.
Over one thousand visitors attended onsite at Locust Grove in November and December of 2022. In addition to the published catalogue, Fertile Ground the online exhibition is available 24/7.
The exhibition was done as a partnership between DCHS and Locust Grove, with significant financial support from The Members’ Fund at the Frances Lehman Loeb Art Center at Vassar College.
