I have had this ledger in my private collection for several decades but do not recall how I obtained it. The first inside page is in the handwriting of James Kelso of Chester, Massachusetts where he notes that he purchased the ledger on February 1, 1804 from a Mr. Emmons. I have scanned this page and the page that refers to his father’s death and estate. There seems to have been a protracted legal issue with the estate.
